Psalm 55:1-23
This psalm was shared during the recent Cg meeting.
It was written by David and he was in distress again because his kingdom was to be overthrown by his son Absalon. Besides that he was betrayed by his friend Aphitophel. He pleads and asks God to help him. David knew that without God's help, he will not be able to survive.
Points to take home tonight will be:
David was a man after God's heart yet he was not perfect. He had done much that he was not proud of, but whenever God confronted him, he would repent and turn back to God. Just like David, will you admit that you have sinned when the Holy Spirit reveals your heart's darkest secret?
It is ok to feel like running away whenever you face life's 'giants'. Even David felt like running too (Ps.55:6-8), but he chose to come to God with his worries. Do you complain about your problems or place your worries at the feet of Jesus?
When facing giants, we can put our trust in God and He will sustain us. God did not promise to take away our problems, but He promises us that He will be there to see us through (Ps.55:22).
Hope you are blessed by this sharing.
